VLOG Number 1

“Bro, I want to start a vlog of my own.” I must have spoken to a countless number of people about this particular topic. I’ve been fascinated by vloggers and their content. From Casey’s daily vlogs to Gary Vaynerchuk’s inspiring Daily Vee show and also taking a page from Mumbiker Nikhil’s vlogs, I’ve been consuming this kind of content for a very long time.

I wasn’t sure if documenting my daily life would be interesting enough as vlogging content but I had a gig coming up and I felt that it was the perfect opportunity to start something.

I was part of a beautiful concept called Amygdala Anomalies by contemporary artist Sajid Wajid Shaikh. He had contacted me around 2 years ago and I had made music for one of the abstract creatures that he had created for the project. I have collaborated with artists on all my releases. I create the music, send it to them and they then create art listening to my track. That is the normal flow, however, this was the first time I was given an artwork and was told to create music for it. Sajid had also decided to take this project live and was organizing an exhibition with all the art and music and I felt this would be great content as the first episode of my vlog.

During my time at blueFROG, I had created a lot of video content where I had interviewed a lot of musicians. Being in front of the camera was a little awkward for me and I think it will take some time for me to get completely comfortable doing something like this. I really enjoyed getting back to creating content and it made me realize how much I was missing making films. These short films become a video journal of your life’s events and I hope to create many more such videos.

I still don’t have a clear path in front of me. I will definitely make videos around my gigs but if I want to make this a regular exercise, I need to come up with more interesting ideas. If you guys have suggestions on what kind of content I should make, I would love to hear your comments below.
