“Experience does for the soul, what education does for the mind” – Casey Neistat
I am not going to call myself a traveller because that’s not something I do very regularly or am passionate about. But I definitely enjoy it, especially driving from one place to the other (Not in Bombay traffic of course).
My initial plan was to stay in Goa for a month+ but because of some work related issues, I had to head back home earlier than expected. That definitely wasn’t something I was happy about but the fact that I would get to drive back through those beautiful roads once again definitely excited me. So on 11th July, 4:54am, I left Goa and started my drive back to Bombay city. Home!

For those who have not, Bombay to Goa or vice versa by road during the monsoon season is heavenly. Everything around you is in different shades of green. The drive is super smooth in general except for the last 2 or first 2 hours depending on whether you’re travelling to or back from Goa. It takes around 10 to 12 hours to get there. It usually takes me around 9.5 to 10 hours depending on how many breaks I take. This specific trip, I reached home at 2:15pm.

I have had my car, the Hyundai Grand i10 for 7+ years and I can’t stop singing praises about it. Maybe I am emotionally attached to it because it was the first brand new car I bought for myself but I have done countless drives to Pune, Nashik and Goa in it and I love everything about this car. I hope to keep it with me for a few more years and judging by how it drove this time, I think we have a few more adventures left to do.
While having company during these long drives is always helpful, there is something special about being all by yourself. I don’t think it’s for everyone but I would recommend you do something like this at least once in your life.
I made a short vlog of my travel back home (above). Hope you enjoy it and if you have stories of your solo travels from point A to point B, I would love to hear about it.
